Σε αυτή τη συζήτηση, θα συναντήσουμε πέντε γυναίκες αποφοίτους του Τμήματός μας που εργάζονται σε ακαδημαϊκά ιδρύματα και εταιρείες του εξωτερικού. Πρώτα θα μας παρουσιάσουν συνοπτικά τη συναρπαστική δουλειά τους που καλύπτει θέματα από την αποθήκευση νέφους, τη ροή βίντεο και τη διαχείριση συστημάτων έως την εξόρυξη κειμένων και γραφημάτων και τις διεπαφές υπολογιστών-ανθρώπινου εγκεφάλου.
Στη συνέχεια, θα μιλήσουν για τα σημαντικά βήματα στην καριέρα τους, τις επιλογές που έπρεπε να κάνουν, τις προκλήσεις που έπρεπε να αντιμετωπίσουν, τις αποτυχίες και τις επιτυχίες τους. Θα μας δώσουν συμβουλές και θα απαντήσουν σε ερωτήσεις.
Andromachi Chatzieleftheriou is a Senior Researcher in the Cloud Infrastructure group at Microsoft Research in Cambridge. Her research interests lie in the areas of computer systems, file systems and storage. Andromachi is enthusiastic about developing disruptive cloud storage technologies for the future and is currently working on Project Silica, a novel long-term archival storage system based on quartz glass designed from the media up for the cloud. Andromachi received her PhD and MSc in Computer Systems from the University of Ioannina in 2015 and 2009 respectively, focusing on improving the data durability, resource efficiency and system performance in local and distributed filesystems.
Nathalie T.h Gayrayd is a research scientist and manager at Facebook, NY. She investigates the application of deep learning and signal processing methods to enable and enhance neuromotor control. She received a MSc and a BSc degree in computer science from the University of Ioannina in 2009 and 2013, respectively, and a MSc in computational biology and biomedicine and a PhD on automatic control and signal processing with specialization on brain computer interfaces from Université Côte d’Azur Inria Sophia Antipolis – Méditerranée, France in 2015 and 2018, respectively.
Angeliki Katsenou is a Senior Research Fellow and Part-time Lecturer with the Visual Information Lab at the University of Bristol. She obtained her PhD degree from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Ioannina, Greece (2014). She received her Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering and an MSc degree in Signal and Image Processing from the University of Patras, Greece. She has experience in several FP7 EC-funded and UKRI EPSRC projects, such as MSCA-ITN PROVISION and EPSRC Platform Grant EP/M000885/1. In 2017, she was awarded a Leverhulme Early-Career Fellowship. Her research interests include optimisation of video streaming, perceptually-optimised video compression, image/video quality, and resource allocation for video communication systems. She has also been involved with conference organization activities and is currently serving as a Technical Program Chair for Picture Coding Symposium (PCS) 2021, Bristol, UK.
Eftychia Koletsou is a CAFM System Administrator (Senior Facilities Management Specialist) with the European Central Bank, in Frankfurt, Germany. Eftychia has received her BSc in Technology, Education and Digital Systems from the University of Piraeus in 2005 and a MSc in Computer Science form the University of Ioannina in 2010.
Konstantina Lazaridou is a Machine Learning Engineer in a market intelligence start-up company called delphai. She lives and works in Berlin, Germany. She graduated from the University of Ioannina, Computer Science department in 2013. She studied for her masters in Information Systems in the Informatics Department of the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki and recently completed her doctoral studies in the Hasso-Platter-Institute in Germany. Her PhD thesis is titled “Revealing hidden patterns in political news and social media with Machine Learning”. Her interests include Text and Graph Data Mining, Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning.

Evaggelia Pitoura is a Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Ioannina, Greece. She holds a diploma in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece and a MSc and PhD degree from Purdue University, USA. Her research interests are in the area of data management with a recent focus on data graphs and responsible data management.
