Vassilios Dimakopoulos

Biography

Vassilios V. Dimakopoulos holds a Diploma degree from the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics, University of Patras, and M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Victoria, Canada. He is a member of the IEEE and the Technical Chamber of Greece, in the specialization of Electronics Engineering. He has been with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Ioannina since 1998, initially as an adjunct professor and later as a regular faculty member, and currently serves as a Professor of Parallel Processing. He was Deputy Chairman (2014-2017) and Director of Graduate Studies (2016-2020) of the Department. Starting November 2017, he serves as the Dean of the School of Engineering; since 2020 he has also been the Chairman of the Technical Council of the University of Ioannina. His research interests lie in the areas of parallel and distributed systems, parallel programming, systems software, computer architecture, embedded systems and performance analysis.
