Studentship is acquired with the enrollment to the Department. The first registration should be made within a deadline announced at the beginning of September of each academic year. Αt the beginning of each semester the student must to  declare online at https://classweb.uoi.gr/ the courses will attended.
In addition to the number of students that enroll to University Departments with the regular procedure, as defined by the Law, the following categories can also enroll in percentages designated by the relevant law:

• Greeks living abroad
• Children of greek civil working abroad
• Citizens of Cyprus
• Non-natives – Foreigners
• Expatriate scholars
• Disabled persons
• Some categories of athletes

The Αcademic year begins on 1 September of each year and ends on 31 August of the next year.

The academic work of each academic year is structured in two semesters (fall, spring). Each semester includes at least 13 full weeks for teaching and two weeks for examination. The exact starting and ending dates of each semester are determined by the Department.

Every student is obliged to participate during her/his studies regularly and substantially in the educational process, according to the law and the decisions of the bodies of the University and the Department respectively.

The curriculum of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering is described in the Undergraduate Courses List page. It should be noted that the courses are distinguished in core and electives. Students should attend all core courses, while electives are selected from each student among those offered by the Department at the current semester.  There are no elective courses for the first five semesters.

The student completes her/his studies and takes the degree, after successful examinations in the courses, prescribed by the program, if she/he assembles the required ECTS, in time not less than 10 semesters.

The statement of courses should be made in the beginning of each semester and in exclusive deadline of two weeks. The maximum number of courses in which the student can register is six (6) for the first semester, five (5) for the second  semester  and nine (9) for all others. The statement of textbooks must be done within a specified time period, which is announced  at the beginning of each semester. The process is done online at http://eudoxus.gr/ and concerns courses you have already stated for this semester.

Each Professor is obliged to organise according to her/his judgment written or oral examinations or to be based on laboratory exercises in order to grade a student.

The examination periods are three: January-February, June and September.

In the end of each semester the student is examined in the courses that she/he has registered. If the student fails in the examinations taking place in the end of the semester, she/he can repeat the examination in the period of September.

The student is eligible to be examined at the period of September in the courses of both (fall and spring) semesters.

The Computer Science & Engineering Department offers its students the possibility to assemble up to ten (10) ECTS credits,  after they follow and are successfully examined in courses of other Departments. Specifically, these courses are offered by the Departments of Mathematics, Physics, Materials Science, Architecture, Economics, Pedagogy of Primary Education and Philosophy.

The knowledge of the English language is also required for the acquisition of the degree of Computer Science and Engineering. The students should register for an English course at his first registration in the Department. The level of knowledge of the foreign language is determined by the ability to translate a Computer Science and Engineering text in Greek in order to assure the knowledge of the structure of the language and of the basic terminology in the area of Computer Science and Engineering.

Registration of graduate students of other Departments: Graduates of other Departments can register after successful attendance of examinations in the following three courses:

• Calculus I
• Introduction to Programming (in any language)
• Applied Linear Algebra

The number of accepted students can reach the percentage of 4% on the number of eligible students (for all the categories classified). For successful applicants the courses in which they were examined successfully during this examination are automatically granted.

In the 10th semester of their studies, students can take a thesis under the supervision of a member of the faculty of the Department.

The minimum duration is one semester and a maximum of two consecutive academic semesters.
The proposed Diploma Thesis topics are announced by the end of December for statements of the spring semester and by the end of May for winter semester statements.
It is possible for two students to collaborate in a common thesis, according to the judgment of the supervisor.
The diploma thesis is examined and graded by a three-member committee, in which the supervisor will participate obligatorily.
Students who develop diploma thesis must present the results of their work in a lecture. The presentation can be attended by any interested party.
The diploma thesis corresponds to 30 ECTS (forty (40) credits).
The student is required to submit to the Department an electronic copy of his / her diploma thesis.
For the diploma thesis, the following time constraints also apply. The examination of the diploma thesis is done at the latest two (2) weeks after the end of the respective examination period and the student must submit his / her written dissertation to the three-member committee at least ten (10) days before the presentation date.

Traineeship  is part of the Undergraduate Program of Studies.

Traineeship lasts two (2) months for the current Internship Program. Students  can participate after completing the sixth semester of study.

Traineeship is announced once per academic year and the students complete an application at the University of Ioannina’s Practice Exercise Office. The choice of both students and employers is made by the relevant Committee. The evaluation of the applications is based on criteria established by the Department’s Committee. Successful completion of the internship gives the student one ECTS credit unit for each (1) month. The acceptance of this point and the degree is approved by the Assembly of the Department after the corresponding proposal of the relevant Committee.

To complete his studies and receive the degree, a student must:

• Be examined successfully in all compulsory courses of the current programm of studies
• Collect at least three hundred (300) ECTS credit unit.

The Degree’s mark is calculated according to the gravity of the ECTS credits of the courses.
