Description: Introduction to computer systems, computing models, hardware and software. Data representation on computers. Introduction to computer networking. Introduction to digital design. Computer architecture, central processing unit, memory organization. Peripherals, secondary memory devices. Operating systems concepts (e.g. memory, I/O handling). Assembly language, programming languages, translation, program linking and loading. Introduction to the UNIX Operating System, files, directories, and commands. The World Wide Web (www), HyperText Markup Language (HTML), and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Introduction to LaTeX.
